The new superior energy class for vacuum cleaners

Good for everyone, easy for everyone to understand

What is the new energy classification for vacuum cleaners? It is a European regulation which enters into force on September 1st 2014 and which aims at classifying more clearly the performance indications of this category, so that consumers are better informed. The new classification is communicated with an energy label showing 5 indicators which, together, give the energy efficiency rating as follows:

It is good for you to know from the start that this new classification only brings you advantages.

Think about the number of factors you have to consider when choosing a performing vacuum cleaner. Then compare this to the fact that you will now have all these important factors – energy efficiency, dust pick-up, sound level and dust re-emission – gathered in one single label, for you to understand the performance level at a glance. Isn’t that much easier?

You are already familiar with the energy labels from most household appliances which improve your daily life - refrigerators, washing machines etc. So this will make it infinitely easier for you to decipher the one for vacuum cleaners. To score a good energy class, products will have to offer superior dust pick-up performance at low energy consumption, which incentivizes manufacturers to come up with new revolutionary vacuum cleaners. We recommend you to return to this page soon to discover the new Philips Eco models and to better understand what a superior cleaning performance class is.

You will manage to save money on your energy bill, because the new regulations promote those products which offer great performance but use little energy.

The vacuum cleaners which will not be able to meet the performance levels of the new, superior energy efficiency class will disappear from the market, so the risk that you buy a non-compliant and under-performing product will be much lower.
